Concert film – Prince – *Sign 'o' the Times* with a unique introduction by Edgar Kruize, the Netherlands’ leading Prince expert

In the late 1980s, Prince decided to make a film about his concert tour based on the iconic album ‘Sign ‘o’ the Times’. The recording was intended to promote his album, particularly in the United States, where his popularity had lagged behind. The film was initially a flop, but later went on to become a hit. ‘Sign ‘o’ the Times’ features footage of his performances at Ahoy Rotterdam and the Sportpaleis in Antwerp. An interesting detail: Prince was dissatisfied with the quality of the picture and sound, so the concert was re-recorded at his Paisley Park Studios in front of an audience of a few hundred extras, with Prince and his band lip-syncing vigorously.
The film, directed by Prince himself among others, features the band from his 1987 tour: dancer Cat Glover, keyboardists Boni Boyer and Doctor Fink, bassist Levi Seacer Jr., guitarist Miko Weaver, drummer Sheila E. and horn players Eric Leeds and Atlanta Bliss.
