De Piek is 55 years old!
In the 55 years that De Piek has been active in Vlissingen city centre, many hundreds of artists
and bands have performed on our stage. From local heroes such as Dany Vera and Blof, who did their 1st gigs in
De Piek, to Dutch and international bands such as Simple Minds, Bad Manners, Joan Jet &
The Blackhearts, The Pretty Things, BIO Hazard, Gong and of course top Dutch bands like
Herman Brood, Trockerner Kecks, De Staat, Within Termptation, Osdorp Posse, Gruppo Sportivo and Hans Dulfer. Too
many to mention. And still the Piek is the place where talent can develop and where
emerging or already well-known bands come to play weekly.
Since 2018, De Piek has been run by an independent organisation consisting entirely of
volunteers. This results in a full programme for a wide variety of audiences.
In addition to a full programme of its own, The Peak organises jam sessions for young people and students and
collaboration with other cultural organisations such as Podium Z, Film by the Sea and Pop aan
Sea.
You will find our small but fine stage in Old Town Vlissingen; Hellebardierstraat 13, at
a stone's throw from the sea. We would love to welcome you as a visitor. And who knows, you might
join us later in turning De Piek. In mid-2027, we will leave this unique place
to move to the newly developed Culture Hub in the iconic Machine Factory on
the site of the former Shipyard on the edge of the city centre.
