Lézard + Chouchou est lá
On Friday 13 November, De Piek has a concert by Ghent band Lézard on the programme as a first in Zeeland!
After a resounding success in Belgium, this five-member band is now conquering Dutch audiences at breakneck speed.
With a dazzling mix of post punk, disco, glam rock, new wave and electroclash, Lézard treads that fault line between comedy and tragedy. Songs that unfold like a comic theatre play and the cacophony behind the scenes. The debut album Que Se Passe t-il is a diorama in which heartbreakers, voyeurs, escapists and dreamers mingle under a shattered disco ball. Lézard turns the camera desperately on himself: what on earth is going on on this big blue rock?
With Lézard's first batch of singles, the rousing "Nothing At All" kicked off, Lézard quickly became a live sensation of note. Festivals at the Reeperbahn, the MaMA Festival, The Great Escape, Nurnberg Pop, Left of the Dial, Pukkelpop, Best Kept Secret, Eurosonic and Radiance had to endure.
Que Se Passe t-il can be called both a break-up and a comeback record: the five souls that make up Lézard have left the party phase in the rear-view mirror in the meantime. All the ghosts and fragments of those hazy nights sucked up and compressed, only to be let loose again in contrarian disco punk that boisterously dominates body and mind.
Support act Chouchou est là brings exclusively their own music, adventurous, eclectic, sometimes contrarian, nostalgic. Think 80s and hip at the same time with a sound that balances between raw energy and playful finesse. Angular grooves, danceable rhythms and quirky melodies that linger without becoming predictable.
